In memory of

Margaret Rose Milne

April 22, 1932 -  June 6, 2017

Margaret Rose Peek was born on April 22, 1932 in Paddington, London. One of the first of the child evacuees sent to Devon during the War, the experience was to significantly inform her later life. From an early age, Margaret was drawn to acting and the Theatre. Her potent talent earned her one of two places at RADA in 1949. Due to personal circumstances, she was unable to attend and instead studied at LAMDA earning her many Certificates.

Margaret and Richard married in 1961 and settled in Toronto. Margaret acted in many amateur plays preferring Shakespeare and comedy. She had an insatiable desire for self-expression and deep personal connection. Though she did not fulfil her full potential, it was there.

Margaret enriched the lives of those in the audiences and her family and friends. She was a loving and generous Mother. Margaret particularly enjoyed working for the Toronto Convention Bureau in the 1980’s during which time she made many deep and lasting friendships.

Margaret was the very essence of an English Rose.

She died peacefully in her sleep with her daughter-in-law, Michelle holding her hand on June 6, 2017.

Surviving Margaret are her loving two children, Antoinette (Lois) and Ashley (Michelle), her two grandsons, Thomas and Christopher and two sisters, Grace and Barbara.

In the end, all that matters is love.

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet”

Rest in peace.

I have many wonderful memories of spending time with Maggie including the family outings to the Christmas tree farm, attending her performances, working with her at the convention bureau and taking acting/diction lessons from her. With sympathy, Jos

It is a relief that you are no longer suffering and at peace and with Dad. You were the best mother to me and Ant and I will forever cherish the fond memories I have of you and the many happy times we had as a family. I will miss you always yet I know you will be watching over us.

Love Ashley

As an extremely shy child, I was always in awe of Maggie's exuberance and outgoing personality. I have wonderful memories of our two families getting together and I will fondly remember Maggie always.
