In memory of

Margaret Purcell

July 27, 1950 -  December 10, 2020

With sadness, we announce Margaret Purcell (Power) age 70 passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10th 2020 surrounded by those who loved her dearly.

Margaret is survived by her husband Gerald, her 3 daughters Cavell, Melissa and Tracy as well as her son in-laws Dario, Graham and Jimmy. She was a cherished Nanny to her grandchildren whom she adored: Mateo, Joshua, Harlowe, Cole, Zoey and Noah, who will all miss her greatly. Also left to mourn are her sisters Bernadette Power (St. John's, NFLD),Teresa (Kevin) Shea (Cambridge, ON), and brothers Jim (Lesley) Power, (Orangeville, ON) and Con Power (Oakville). Margaret was predeceased by her brother John, and sister Doreen who we know have already greeted her with open arms.

Margaret was born on July 27th 1950 on Bell Island, Newfoundland to Cornelius and Ellen Power. She later moved to Ontario in 1969, and has resided in Mississauga since 1976. She went on to become a volunteer at her daughters' school and became a beloved cashier at Metro grocery store #461 where she formed many lifelong friendships and even after her retirement
was still recognized by customers wherever she went. She loved being able to strike up a conversation anywhere and when asked "who was that?" usually replied with a smile "Oh, I know them from work."

Margaret was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved her time at the casino slot machines, and could often be found scratching her lottery tickets. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

A private funeral service and cremation will take place on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at Meadowvale Funeral Centre. A celebration of life will be announced in the new year. Margaret will then be laid to rest in her birthplace of Newfoundland at a later date. Friends and family are welcome to watch a live webcast of Margaret's service. It will become live at 1:55pm and a banner will appear above her photo. If you are on her webpage prior to 1:55pm please refresh your browser.
