In memory of

Margaret Patricia "Pat" Collie

June 23, 1934 -  December 12, 2023

Passed peacefully with family by her side on December 12, 2023. Beloved wife of Bob Collie (predeceased) for over 64 years of laughter and love. Loving Mother of Wendy and Don, and Rob. Proud Grandmother of Ryan, Erin, Ceilidh, Lindsay, and Andrew. Most cherished “Gigi” to Lincoln and Travis.

Whether managing political campaigns, chairing the Scarborough Board of Education, or leading provincial and federal election returning offices, Pat knew how to get the job done. She was a political force and a lifelong member of the New Democratic Party. Alongside her husband, Pat played a key role in managing many election battles over the years and was steadfast in the beliefs of the party.

Pat adored spending time with her two Great-Grandchildren, beating her Son-in-Law in games of cribbage, sharing morning toast with her furry four-legged Grandbabies, and sitting out on the back deck reading a good book while enjoying the sunshine. Her no nonsense attitude, and immense love of life will be missed by all those close to her.

A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE (1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, 905-579-6787) on Monday December 18, 2023 with visitation taking place from 11am-12noon. Words of Comfort by the family at 12pm with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society in memory of her cherished husband Bob Collie.

My sincere condolences to Pat's family. I worked with Pat (and Bob) on many elections. She was a very fine lady and an inspiraton to all women in her orbit. She was strong, self assured, very kind and supportive to others. I felt fortunate to have her as my supervisor. God bless her.

I was saddened to hear Pat passed away. She was a smart, spirited and a great family friend. Her passing brings to a close a wonderful friendship my parents (Wally & Nettie) enjoyed with Pat & Bob. A friendship forged by politics, and genuine concern for shared values and one another. So many wonderful memories, too many to count. As a school trustee & Chair of the Scarborough Board we enjoyed & benefitted from the investments in our development. When Wendy called I just left a union meeting, and told her I was truly fortunate to grow up in the presence of strong smart women. I forgot to add, with a sharp tongue they wielded like a sword!
