In memory of

Margaret Moores

October 16, 1926 -  November 28, 2022

Margaret Eleanor Moores passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on November 28, 2022 in her 97th year. Born Margaret Eleanor King in Broad Cove Newfoundland to Silas and Elsie Maud King. She travelled to Toronto in 1951 and married Willie Moores (1925-2005) of Adam’s Cove, Newfoundland. Mother to Ruby (Wally), Gordon (Elaine, 1955-2021), Len (Linda) and Robert (Dianne). Grandmother to Brooke (Craig), Lauren (Sean), Jonathan  (Eve), Kristyn (Kosta), Ashleigh (Matt), Daniel, Faryn (Ben), Shelley (Derek), Kayla (Jack), Brittany (Jon) and Ginette. Great Grandmother to Jared, Erika, Carter, Jaxon, Owen, Sebastian, Natalie, Chase, Pavlos, Olive and Nicolitsa.

Margaret’s life was dedicated to ensuring her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren had more opportunities in life than she had. She walked to afternoon shifts at Canadian General Electric until she retired in 1990. She often went without so her children would not have to. She loved maintaining her many family relationships in Toronto, Newfoundland and the greater Boston area. Known by many for her homemade bread, broken glass pie and bean salad. She constantly hosted many friends of her children over the years.

She was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada, initially at Broad Cove United Church, followed by Prospect Park, Silverthorn, Mount Dennis and finally Walton Memorial United Church.

A family church service will be held in early January, 2023 at Walton Memorial United Church. A Celebration of Life and interment of her remains are being planned for April, 2023.

In lieu of flowers we would direct donations to Special Olympics Corner Brook or a charity of your choice.

Donations to Special Olympics Corner Brook can be made by writing a cheque made out to Special Olympics Corner Brook and mail it to: Special Olympics Corner Brook, 91 Reid Street, Corner Brook, NL A2H 2N7.
