Margaret Ann Parkes (nee Rodgers) was born on November 19, 1945 in St. Anne’s by the Sea, England and passed suddenly on February 18, 2023 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Predeceased by her husband Donald A. Parkes and parents Graham and Clara Rodgers (Lindley). Affectionately known to everyone as Migz, she immigrated to Canada after finishing her training as an audiologist in Britain and began her career at the Toronto School for the Deaf. Upon its closure, she continued her excellent work with hearing impaired children as an audiologist with the Toronto District School Board and remained there until her retirement. Throughout her life, Migz enjoyed family and friend gatherings, a variety of music, especially classical and jazz, reading, walking and training their Basenjis for agility competitions. Her family members and friends will fondly remember Migz as a kind, generous and gentle person who will be dearly missed by all. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, between 1 pm and 4 pm, with eulogies at 2 pm, at Thornton Funeral Centre (1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, 905-579-6787). In memory of Migz, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
