In memory of

Manuel Antonio Madeira

September 28, 1944 -  February 5, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family of Manuel Madeira announces his passing on February 5, 2026, at the age of 81.

Manuel was born in 1944 in Campelos, Portugal, where he spent his early years surrounded by the traditions and close-knit community that shaped his character. At the age of 18, with courage and hope for a brighter future, he left Portugal and journeyed to São Paulo, Brazil. There, he laid the foundation for the life he would build with his beloved wife, Maria, whom he married in Brazil. Together, they welcomed their first two children, Fatima and Carlos.

Still driven by the dream of providing the best possible life for his family, Manuel immigrated to Canada in 1969, where he worked tirelessly and built a warm, loving home. It was in Canada that Manuel and Maria completed their family with the birth of their son, Davi. Manuel’s life in Canada became a testament to perseverance, love, and quiet strength.

Manuel will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Maria, and their three children: Fatima (married to Bill), Carlos (married to Sandra), and Davi (married to Karen). He was a proud and cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren: Jordan, Joshua, Rebecca, Jacob, Everly, Cordelia, and Veronica — each one a source of immense pride and joy in his life.

Those who knew Manuel will remember him as a selfless, loving, and caring husband, father, and grandfather. His gentle spirit, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family touched everyone around him. He lived a life defined by humility, hard work, and deep compassion — qualities he passed down to the generations that follow.

Manuel leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and family unity that will continue to guide and inspire those who were blessed to know him.

May he rest in eternal peace.

Manuel was always a special and courageous person. I remember, when I was very young, seeing the whole family — including Aunt Maria — moving to Canada. His joyful and kind nature was always his trademark. I have great admiration for the life and family he built with so much hard work and love. May God welcome him with open arms, and may he be reunited with the Madeiras once again. Rest in peace, my cousin.
