Sorry that I am not able to make the funeral. Reading Irving’s eulogy which he shared with me in advance, I now have a deep admiration for Auntie Mandy’s accomplishments. Being a single mom was difficult enough, let alone supporting a son through college and graduate school overseas. It was no small feat! And just as impressive was her resilience during the last few years of her life, despite not being able to consume anything by mouth. Many people would not be able to last that long, with quality of life suffering greatly under those circumstances. I am sad to hear of auntie’s passing, but am glad to know that she is now at a better place, with no suffering. With her belief in God and her good deeds on earth, I am sure God will take care of her. May God bless auntie’s soul and may she rest in peace!

I met Mandy in 2017 at Toronto Chinese Alliance Church.
During the pandemic, May 2020, I took Mandy grocery shopping as she wanted to know which types of yogurt to buy.
We went grocery shopping a few times. In 2021 and 2022, I accompanied Mandy for dental appointments at Mt. Sinai Hospital and seeing the oncologist at St. Mike' s Hospital. We became much closer. We would go for luch after the appointments. She would call me if she had questions about nutrition. I called her on a regular basis to see how she was doing.
Sad that Mandy is gone. She will always be in my memory and in my heart.
