In memory of

Malcolm Mercer

December 2, 1958 -  April 8, 2024

Malcolm Stuart Mercer, born on December 2, 1958, in Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 8, 2024, in Collingwood, Ontario. He was the beloved son of Robert and Peggy Mercer. Malcolm's parents preceded him, leaving a void that he carried with grace and strength.

Malcolm is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Mercer, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Lindsay Spiteri (Jason Spiteri), Elizabeth Mercer (Jaffar Said), and Melissa Mercer. Malcolm was also a cherished grandfather to two grandchildren, Hudson and Hazel Spiteri, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.

In his professional life, Malcolm dedicated 31 years of service to his career. He began his journey in the ambulance services on May 28, 1990, at Metro Toronto DAS. Malcolm's passion and commitment led him to work alongside dedicated partners, including Paramedic Jozef Wong and Paramedic Rob Stinson. He retired on January 31, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and excellence in his field.

Malcolm was a respected member of the Toronto Paramedic Services community, where he served as a Ceremonial Guard member. His dedication to his chosen profession reflected his deep sense of pride and honor in serving others.

Outside of work, Malcolm found solace and joy on the golf course. His love for the game was unparalleled, and he spent countless hours perfecting his skills and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow golf enthusiasts. Rain or shine, Malcolm's presence on the green brought warmth and camaraderie to those around him.

During his final days, Malcolm was under palliative care at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to honour his memory and support the compassionate care provided by the hospice.

Malcolm Stuart Mercer will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his gentle spirit, and the love he shared with his family and friends. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of kindness will continue to inspire all who were touched by his presence.

The world changes from year to year, our lives from day to day, but the love and memory of you, shall never pass away. Death cannot stop my love for you. I wanted you for life and I never thought there would come a time our story would come to an end. For all the joy and time we shared, I will remember all the memories we had. Some good, some bad and they will all be tucked away inside my heart forever. I love and miss you so very much sweetheart but know you are at peace watching over and guiding me on this journey alone without you now.
