In memory of

Mae Hideko Nagasuye

May 13, 1930 -  September 10, 2016

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving and much beloved mother and grandmother, Mae Nagasuye (nee Yamamura). After many challenging years of tenaciously battling a host of health issues, Mae ended her long and difficult fight peacefully in her own home on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the age of 86. Predeceased by her husband, Shig, Mae will be deeply missed by her daughters, Janet Nagasuye, Lynn Newhouse (Gary), granddaughter, Kyomi Mae, and sister, Lilly Yamamura. Mae will be fondly remembered as a thoughtful, generous and devoted mother and grandmother who always placed everyone ahead of herself. We wish to extend our sincere appreciation to Mae’s good friend, James Rhind, for his help and companionship over the years. We also acknowledge the contribution of Toronto’s CCAC, and the health care team at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care. Special thanks to Dr. Russell Goldman and nurses Meredith Muscat and Cecillia Yau for their exemplary care and patience, and to personal support worker, Connie Navares, for her kind and good natured assistance. Without their knowledgeable and compassionate support, Mae’s final year in her own home would most certainly not have been possible.

We couldn't have asked for a better neighbour than Mae, plus Janet who spent many days with her Mom, when we lived in Toronto. Always so friendly and kind. We loved your gardens Mae! Rest in peace.

I am so sad to hear iof Mae's passing, she was a wonderful lady. I met her when I started working at Prudential Ins Co. in 1967. She was like a second mom to me taking a very shy 18 year old under her wing. We had a lot of laughs and kept in touch through Christmas cards after that. She often talked about her daughters Janet and Lynn and about babysitting her little granddaughter. She also talked about her little dog and how much happiness he brought her.
My thoughts are with her family at this difficult time, she was a wonderful lady.
