In memory of

Lynette Emanuel

June 30, 1930 -  December 12, 2024

EMANUEL (née Jobson), Lynette (Nellie) – Peacefully at Belmont House, Toronto, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Douglas V. L. Emanuel. No doubt there was a big welcome party for her in the great beyond with Douglas as the organizer. Loved mother of Mary (late Stephen White), Helen, Kathryn (Shaun Kelly), Diane and Douglas Jr. Dear grandma to Sarah and Julia.
Nellie’s first job was working with her brother in his land surveying office, and her mathematics skills from this period never failed to impress, even later in life. Nellie was creative and she expressed this in her well-known culinary skills, art and flower arranging. Her faith was strong and she regularly volunteered in her Church and local community both in her native Jamaica and her adopted home of Canada. Nellie never forgot her roots growing up on a farm as part of a large family in Jamaica.
Her family would like to thank the Belmont House team for their care and support over the last 14 years and to Carmen for taking such good care of our Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Belmont House Foundation or to The Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto. Memorial Service at 10:00am on January 25, 2025, at York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Rd., Toronto; interment to follow.

I met Nellie many years ago just before she married cousin Douglas. I remember her as a sweet soft spoken lady, kind and very caring. I think I visited Nellie on my of my trips to Toronto years ago. Blessings to her children as they grieve their mother. May Nellie Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory. My love to Nellie’s children.

Along with my sister Maureen and another cousin Ruth Reckord, lived with Douglas and Nellie at thei Swallowfield home when we first attended Wolmers High School.Remember taking out her packed suitcase the morning Douglas was carefully taking her to the car (a Prefect) and to Nutall Hospital for the birth of Mary
Later on we we neighbors on Hibiscus Drive where Helen I think was a few y old and was always at my side vet when I had the measles.Fortunately she never became affected
Rember too, those NewYears Eve parties to celebrate Grandma Jessie’s birthday at Springdale. These party’s lasted days and every year it was Douglas’ aim to to get my father drunk, not knowing that the Batman, Roland was outing ginger ale for my father and rum or whiskey to the men who we’re trying to get Dsd drunk
Those were wonderful days that have left indelible memories that although they have all gone, will never ever be forgotten.
