In memory of

Luz Antonia Lara

It is with great sorrow and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Luz Lara at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. She has been called to Heaven and is now resting peacefully in God’s care. She will forever be held dearly and lives on in hearts of the many people she touched. She was the loving mother of Jose Lara and Alondra Lara, devoted sister of Johanna Lara (Luis Garcia), Hugo Lara, Walter Lara and Freddy Lara (Johanna Bergfelt), beloved daughter of Teresa Lara and Juan Lara, and dear aunt of Jonnathan Lara, Alex Garcia, Brandan Garcia, Antonio Lara, Felix Lara, Max Lara, Isabelle Lara, Christopher Lara and Andres Ramirez. She was affectionately known as Lucy. She had a passion for cooking, and many will remember her famous barbeques; travelling far to fire up the grill for others. Lucy would always say that her personal mission in life was to bring happiness and joy to others, and that she did. She dedicated her life to extending the well-being of others and providing care and support for them. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 24, 2023 at THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, 905-579-6787 from 12noon until time of service in the chapel at 1pm. Burial to follow at THORNTON CEMETERY.

We love you, Lucy.

I just want to say I am very grateful and happy for Luz to have been a part of my life. She was a genuine friend who was always there for me when I needed her the most to listen to me and give me advice. We shared nice memories and one of them was when we went to go eat together with the grandma. We had a really good time talking and always laughing. I love her smile and her laugh was amazing. It made me laugh even more. These 13 years of our friendship were a blessing and I will always carry Luz in my heart. Her departure will leave a whole in my heart because I love her very much. She will be remembered as a a caring and noble woman to this world and those she knew. Until we meet again amiga.

My condolences to the family.
Lucy was a kind, compassionate and caring person who was a pleasure to have known. I met Lucy through her care of one of the residents where I work.
She will be greatly missed.
R.I.P Lucy
