In memory of

Lucia Campo

February 24, 1926 -  November 15, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved family matriarch, Lucia Campo on November 15, 2023 in her 97th year. Pre-deceased by her husband Salvatore in 2004 and son Tony (Betty-Lou) in 2013, she is now reunited with them in the Lord’s loving embrace. She leaves behind her remaining sons John (Palma), Rico (Kelly) and Elio (Jackie), her cherished grandchildren Robert, TJ (Maria), Daniel, Michael, Eric, Julianna, Sophy and Thomas, great-grandchildren Kyla and Anthony, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Originally from Pachino, Sicily, Italy, she and Salvatore immigrated to Canada in the 1950s in search of a better life after the Second World War. Settling in Toronto and then later Scarborough, they built a strong foundation for their young family to thrive. Raising four young boys was no easy feat, but she embraced the challenge with style and grace. As her children grew and started families of their own, Lucia was overjoyed to be a grandmother. In her remaining days, she would often recall loving memories of caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the family home on Burrows Hall. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her for her warmth, her sense of humour, and her love of music and dancing.

The Campo family is eternally grateful to the nurses and staff at Lakeridge Gardens nursing home in Ajax, who cared for her with dignity and respect, and who sang along with her to her favourite song, “That’s Amore” by Dean Martin.

A visitation will be held on November 21, 2023 from 11 am - 1 pm at Pine Hills Funeral Centre in Scarborough, followed by a graveside service at 1 pm. A Zoom Videoconference has been arranged for a virtual visitation for those unable to attend in person (Meeting ID: 871 447 1435, Passcode: t3Z6Hc). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honour to Diabetes Canada or your charity of choice.

Nana, ti vogliamo bene assai assai assai! Sempre e per sempre.

My Nona will always be in my heart and memories, she brought me up like I was one of her sons, that's how close she was to me. I would call her MA.
RIP, I love you.
