In memory of

Louis Kotsopoulos

December 23, 1968 -  November 8, 2022

It is with broken hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Lou Kotsopoulos (December 23, 1968 – November 8, 2022). Lou was the beloved husband of Christine Guenette. He cherished “his” Chrissy as she did “her” Lovely Lou. His greatest joy was his two children Abby and Ben. His pride and love for his children and wife was fierce. Lou’s unwavering devotion to his family and friends was unprecedented. Lou was thoughtful, loyal, giving, funny, ridiculously smart, and the greatest protector one could have at their side. Lou is immensely loved by all of his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife Christine Guenette, daughter and son Abby and Benjamin Kotsopoulos, mother, Fanoula Kotsopoulos and two older sisters Freida Rubletz and Donna Kotsopoulos, who affectionately referred to him as “King Lou”, his in-laws, Danny, Angele, Robert, Sarah, Colleen, Patricia, Bob, Sandy, and many nieces and nephews and their extended families.

Lou was very proud of his career with Eli Lilly where he worked for over 22 years. He treasured his many colleagues, partners, and healthcare professionals - worldwide. There are so many colleagues who he not just considered friends but second family - too many to mention but they know who they are.

Lou was the first person in his family to attend university and it changed the path for all of us. He was tremendously proud of being a University of Windsor graduate. An award has been created at the University of Windsor to support a first generation student studying science. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating by going to the link at Lou Kotsopoulos Award in Science. Please see donation page for link to this charity.

A celebration of Lou’s life will be planned in the new year at a date, time and location to be determined.

Susan and I are devastated by this news. What a great friend and neighbour you have been. I cherish those long talks we had over the fence, they are the memories I will keep forever.

My heart is broken for the family. I was looking forward to getting to know Lou better now that my daughter Sarah and Rob bought a cottage next to his family. His memories will live on
