In memory of

Lorne Segall

January 27, 1973 -  July 17, 2022

With tremendous grief, we announce the loss of Lorne Segall who passed away July 17, 2022 in his 49th year after a ridiculously unfair and hard fought year-long battle with advanced lung cancer. Adored husband and heart of Trina Liew for 22 beautiful years, he was the doting and proud father to his three children Jake (16), Jessica (14), and Robin (9).

Lorne was first and foremost a devoted father and perfect partner. Enough cannot be said about the overwhelming love he gave to his family- he was eternally calm and generous in time and patience. His second devotion was to his work as an Otolaryngologist at Credit Valley Hospital. Lorne was an intelligent clinician and a talented surgeon. He was dedicated to his practice and to helping patients. He shared many interests with his children including an arcane level of car knowledge, a love of Air Jordans, a penchant for all things Marvel and actually all movies, impressive gaming expertise, fitness and super jackedness, comic books and food knowledge. The list goes on and on.

A casual memorial will be held at York Funeral Home on August 7th at 1:00 pm to commemorate his life serving as an important memory for his children. To view the service remotely, a link to the live webcast will be available 10 mins before the scheduled service time. In lieu of floral tributes, the Segall family asks that you donate a specific piece of personal time each week to doing something memorable with your family.

The Segall family appreciates the support you have shown them in this most difficult time. If you have a few words and memories of Lorne to share at the memorial, it is most welcome. If you cannot attend but would like to share a memory with his children in the online comments it would also be much appreciated.

It's been quite some time since our boys were together at Sterling Hall. Before that Lorne and I were friends during residency. I always had a great deal of respect for him, both for his kindness and his skill. My deepest condolences to you and the children.

My sincere condolences to you Trina and your family.
I hope that your beautiful memories of Lorne bring smiles to your faces.
I was 12 years old when Lorne entered this world. I will forever cherish the fun memories our family made together while watching Lorne grow up.
I am saddened. I didn't really have the chance to tell Lorne how proud I was of him and the choices he made during his lifetime. I will miss my dear nephew very much. He did not deserve to be taken from this world at such a young age.
I love you Lorne,
Please rest in peace.

Lorne was the most loving father and husband, an outstanding doctor and a truly amazing friend whose kind and intelligent advice will be missed by many. He will forever remain the one and only. He was a unicorn.
