In memory of

Joseph David Lord

May 19, 1980 -  August 25, 2024

Joseph David Lord (nee Whitfeld), age 44, passed away suddenly on August 25th, 2024, after a long and difficult battle with mental health.

Joseph was born on May 19th, 1980, in East York, Ontario and spent most of his childhood in Unionville. He attended Brother Andre high school in Markham and graduated in 1999. He then attended Wilfred Laurier University and earned a Political Science degree in 2003. Joseph loved to learn (and travel) so he then ventured to Melbourne Australia to get his teaching degree in 2006. In 2007 he became a father when his son Owen was born. He wed in 2010 to Elvira Lord (nee Morra) and Joe became stepfather to Evangeline, and in 2011 they welcomed their son Julien.

Joseph was a kind, loving soul, whose smile lit up a room. He was known for his silliness and great sense of humour, always making light of any situation. He was passionate about teaching and coaching. He was a family man who would do anything for those he loved. He was extremely talented and excelled in many areas, especially music and writing. He was a brilliant conversationalist who loved to engage in discussions and debates about many topics including history, sports, politics, spirituality, world issues, just to name a few.

He is survived by his two sons Owen Barbesin-Lord and Julien Carmelo Lord, his mother Maria Ricupero Whitfeld, his father Brian Lord, his sister Maria-Louisa Orzakovski, brother in law Zeev Orzakovski and many relatives within the extended family.

Joseph was robbed of his happiness by his mental illness. To honour his memory, donations can be made to CMHA, the Canadian Mental Health Association. May his memory be a blessing.

“Little” Joe as he was known in grade school and at Brother Andre. He was a very close friend of our son, Andrew. Joe travelled with us on a number of family trips - California, Mexico and Bahamas. Joe was a wonderful person and we enjoyed having him around the house. Unfortunately, as young men grow up we lost touch with him. We offer our sincere.condolences to his family and offer our prayers and thoughts to them during this difficult time,

So sad for your loss Vera. I remember Joe as a teenager when he was good friends with my son Robert. He was a special young man. He will be truly missed especially by his wife and children. It’s so sad to hear of the passing of someone so young. My most sincere condolences again to the whole family 🙏❤️

You were a man of many talents and you made me so proud as a father countless times. There is a pain in my heart that will never go away and I will continue to love you dearly for the rest of my life. I cannot find the words to express how I am going to miss you
