In memory of

Lily Toshimi Kuroda

September 19, 1932 -  March 7, 2021

Passed away peacefully at her home in Scarborough, ON, on March 7, 2021.

Beloved wife to Mits for 64 years, loving mother to Dana (Cliff), most adored Nana to Cameron and Garrett, cherished sister to Leatrice, dearest aunt to Kevin (Yoko), Karen (Cary), Jaimie (Joel), and Adam (Emiline) and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, Takeo and Yukie Nakano; parents-in-law, Genjiro and Hatsumi Kuroda; sisters-in-law, Toshiko, Fumiko, Mary, Tomi, and Sue; and brothers-in-law, Kaz, Mas, Herb, and Joe.

Lily was born in Woodfibre, BC, and when World War II began, she was sent to an evacuation camp with her mother in Greenwood, BC, until they were reunited with her father in Toronto in 1943. She continued her education in Toronto and attended Central Technical School where she met Mits in 1947. They began dating in 1953 and were married in 1956. Their daughter, Dana, was born in 1962. Lily began her career as a medical lab technologist and continued as such for many years. In 1984, after the sudden passing of her mother, she resigned her position at Scarborough General Hospital to help care for her now widowed father. She would eventually take on a variety of jobs over the next two decades, ending her working years in the office at Zip Mold Inc. She enjoyed working and continued to work part time until she was 75.

In her spare time, Lily truly enjoyed travelling the world with both family and many close friends. She was an avid reader, but in her younger years, she also enjoyed participating in sports such as badminton, table tennis, and bowling. However, above all else, her true passion was spending time with her family, especially her two grandsons.

Due to restrictions of Covid-19, only a private family service is permitted at this time. The family plans to have a ‘Celebration of Life’ for Lily at a later date. In lieu of flowers or koden, donations may be made to JCCC or Momiji Health Care Society.

My deepest sympathy of the loss of this beautiful woman
Lily was a amazing woman and co worker for 10+ years at Zip Mold.
She was more like a second mom to me than a co worker as she lended her
ear and gave personal advice so freely.
Even though Lily retired from Zip Mold we still found time to keep in touch,
You will be missed.
Mits, Dana and family I’m thinking of you and sending prayers and comforting
Hugs to you all.

I have so many fond memories of Lily, or Dana’s Mum or Mrs. K as I knew her. I spent so much time over at their house when I was young, she became like a second Mum to me. Mrs. K always welcomed me with her cheery smile. I feel blessed having known Lily and her family. She will always have a special place in my heart. xoxo
