In memory of

LI, Man Lee

LI, Man Lee ( 陳李漫漓)
September 19, 1922 – February 16, 2022

LI, Man Lee was born in 1922 in Canton, China. She was the eldest of her 5 siblings. Her grandfather, a devoted Christian, gave her another name “Blessed” which originated from Matthew Chapter 5 of the Bible.
She met her husband Tin Chai Chan at University of Canton, and they got married in 1945 at Canton Methodist Church in China. After marriage, they moved to Hong Kong and had 3 daughters, Agatha, Kate and Annie. She chose to stay home to nurture her 3 daughters, taking care of her mother and mother-in-law who reside in the same apartment building.
After their daughters left home for post-secondary education, she shared her passion for cooking by teaching part-time at Hong Kong TownGas Cooking School. Besides cooking, she loved reading the Bible, singing hymns and writing simple poems. She also loved talking to people about Jesus. She led her husband’s parents and younger brother to Christ.
Her life motto originates from the Bible “It is more blessed to give than to receive” and it sets a good example for her daughters. She served the Lord in different capacities in her local church (Hong Kong Methodist Church) including being a chairperson in the Women Fellowship.
She immigrated to Vancouver to join her youngest daughter in 1993. She returned with her husband to Hong Kong after becoming a Canadian citizen. After the passing of her husband, she once again returned to Canada to join her second daughter in Toronto in 2014.
Her loving, gentle and generous spirit will be forever missed by her family, relatives and friends.
