My first memory of Aunt Noni is when she would slide yummy bits of candy and bars of chocolate
through the gap at the bottom of our apartment door when we lived on Parliament Street together. Uncle Bill and Aunt Noni lived in apt #1, and my parents lived in apt. #3.

As a young child I believed that Aunt Leona was a celebrity who secretly owned a pancake company, and was married to a nice man we called Uncle Bill, who also held the same celebrity status, and always drove an awesome car.

If you were lucky enough to be a guest of Aunt Leona she would treat you very well, visiting was always a special time. We would most likely drop in with little notice, if any, and be treated with the grandest of hospitality. Aunt Leona would always have drinks and yummy goodies to share to suit any age. She loved to cook, sew, knit, garden and shop. Aunt Leona had a great fondness for children and ran the best in-home childcare centre. And how can I forget her pets, Pickles, Pugnacious and Pugnacious #2. Aunt Noni would spoil her pets as much as she would people. Aunt Noni was known by all for her kindness, hospitality, and generosity.

Aunt Leona always presented herself with poise and grace. Although she held her own opinion about certain topics, people, and situations, she would not ever say an unkind word about anyone. Mrs. Leona Courtney was favoured by those who were in her circle of care. She had always maintained a pleasant demeanor. She was a true Lady in every sense of the word. My children and grandchildren loved her dearly.

Aunt Leona, it has been a great pleasure and honour to know you. Thank you for enriching our lives with your grace and beauty. Till we meet again.

May god prepare a place for you next to the most saintly and the glorious.

Amen
