In memory of

Leon Nicholas Libawski

December 6, 1928 -  September 10, 2024

On September 10, 2024, Leon Nicholas Libawski, in his 96th year, passed away early in the morning. He lived a very long and fruitful life, but in the end his body was unwilling to go any further regardless of what his sharp mind was telling it. Over the course of the last few weeks his beloved second wife Renate, cared for him with love in the hospital.

His daughter Lucyanne and her partner Larry visited many times. His son Derrik and partner Sonia visited almost daily. The visits with his grandsons John, Patrick, Brayden and Adam, and Adam’s girlfriend Kendra, brought joy and beaming smiles to Leon’s face – he loved them all.

Leon was preceded by his first wife Valentine Libawski (nee Pietrow), and his grand-daughter Alexandra Marie Davison.

Loving husband of Renate Libawski (Weidner). Loving father of Lucyanne Davison and her partner Larry MacKinnon; Derrik Libawski and his partner Sonia Martin; and Terry Libawski; grandsons John Davison and his wife Richelle; Patrick Davison and his wife Alice; Brayden, Adam and Jacob Libawski; and great-grandsons Joshua, Henry and Grady Davison.

He will be forever missed, no longer by our sides, forever in our hearts.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 27th, 2024 at 2:00pm, St. Mary’s Church, 66 Main St. S., Brampton, ON.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated: https://www.cancer.ca

Leon and Renate had been our friends for 30 years now. They were treated as family and are often invited to family events. We always made it a point to celebrate each other's birthdays with a dinner out. Leon has been very lucky to have had the comfort of a first and loving wife in his younger and better days and second wife Renate during his medical challenges. We had been a witness to their blessed union and how Renate made a good home for him. Dinners at their house is like having a gourmet dinner in a first class restaurant. Leon will never allow for us to leave without a night cap of his favorite drink and or a sweet liquor for me. My favorite is his home made egg nog which he will always make during the Christmas season and which I look forward to having and his famous poppy seed cake. I admire how much and what he did well to recover from his almost yearly surgeries due to broken bones. He was a great survivor and his spirit unbreakable. I told him, if he can recover from those surgeries at a more advanced age, I can certainly recover too from my own surgery. And he would just smile- and what a beautiful smile. Even at his age, his features show how handsome he is. He was decent and a true gentleman. Never had anything bad to say about anybody. His last wish which he mentioned to my son-in-law, was to at least make it to his 30th wedding anniversary to Renate. But as we all know now, the Lord had called for his return.
Rest in peace, Leon. Rest assured, we will take care of Renate for you. Until we meet again.
As for Renate, be strong. May the good Lord be at your side always.
To all of Leon's children and grandchildren, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincere condolences.
