In memory of

Lena Hang Lin Chong

March 3, 1933 -  August 24, 2022

After a well lived 89 years, on August 24, 2022, Lena passed away peacefully with family by her side. She will be fondly remembered for her dedication and kindness to family and friends. She was admired for her staunch determination and zest for a healthy and happy life - eating well, walking, and exercising. After emigrating to Toronto from Hong Kong in 1954, she met the love of her life (James Chong) and after a 2-year courtship, their love blossomed, and James and Lena were married in 1957. Throughout her life Lena treasured the warmth of close family, the marvels of city living and the joy and comfort of familiar places.

Lena was predeceased by her husband, James Chong (2007). Cherishing her memory are sons, Perry (Carolina) and Ivan, their families and relatives. The family thanks Lena's medical team at Sunnybrook Hospital, the doctors and the caring staff at Bridgepoint Hospital's Temmy Latner's Palliative Care Unit for their attentive care, skill and kindness.

The family will gather privately at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Saturday September 3, 2022.

If you wish to make a donation in her memory, please consider the Temmy Latner Palliative Care Centre - Sinai Health Foundation, by accessing the Donations tab; or donate to a charity of your choice.

My sincere condolences to the Chong family. May Lena rest in peace and may the family take solace in the fact that she lived a long healthy life.

For 46 years, Mrs. Chong was our friendly neighbour just a few houses down the street. She never failed to greet us and to express kindly interest in us and our children. A language barrier kept our conversations simple, but they were always lively and heart-felt. She was a good neighbour, kind and lively, and we will miss her.
