HIIUVÄIN, LEMBIT.
Born August 14, 1934 in Estonia. After a valiant struggle with cancer, Lembit passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario. Beloved son of the late Juulia and Johannes Hiiuväin. Beloved brother of Agnes (Voldemar Paju) and of the late Sulev, Helmut and Valve (Mihkel Lindau). Beloved uncle of Reet (Toomas Voksepp), Rosemarie, Ellen, the late Paul, Linda, Peet, Juhan, Juulia, Maret (Paul Giles), Jaan, Robert, Thomas, and their spouses. Will be deeply missed by grand nieces and nephews: Marielle (Greg DiBiase), Kristjan, Eliis, Roland, Ivi, Sam, Stella, Ella, Lexy, Alf, Owen, Sean, Siobhan, Roisin, Catriona; and great-grand nieces Olivia and Silvi. Lembit was active in scouts and coached men's basketball and soccer for the Kalev club. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, playing bridge, reading and ice-fishing. He was an outdoorsman and a sports enthusiast. Lembit also had a passion for music, in particular, Estonian choral music and in 2017, he realized one of his dreams, to attend the Youth Song Festival in Estonia. He was devoted to his family and very proud of his nieces and nephews and all of their children. Lembit's loveable, young-at-heart personality and generosity will always be appreciated and cherished by all who knew him. Memorial service for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019, 12:00 p.m. at York Chapel.
