It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tomislav Ledvinka. After a short battle with lymphoma Tom passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday, August 07th, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Tomislav was born January 13th 1940 in Slovenija. After immigrating to Canada, he started a family and worked for Treco Machine and Tool Ltd. until his retirement in 2006. In his retirement, Tom and his wife Tilka traveled extensively until settling into Arizona life as snowbirds. Anyone whose path crossed with Tom’s saw that he had a quiet yet very playful demeanour and a soul that was gentle and kind. During the day he would typically be found in the backyard with a garden shovel in hand, while in the evenings he enjoyed playing cards with friends. Not only did Tom instill values of kindness, humility, and self-reliance onto his children, he also instilled a love of travel and nature through his hiking and camping adventures, many of which he had the opportunity to share with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Tilka (nee Ivicak), daughters Tania and Andrea along with their spouses (Marko and Cheryl) and grandchildren (Nadia, Marko, Ava, and Luka). A visitation, followed by a service and reception will be held on Monday, August 14th at the THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa (905 579-6787). The visitation will be from 10-11am with a service to follow at 11am. A private family internment will occur at a later date. Flowers may be sent directly to Thornton Cemetery or in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
