In memory of

Lawrence Arthur Thompson

June 5, 1932 -  February 2, 2022

Lawrence Arthur Thompson, 89, passed away on February 2nd, 2022. He is predeceased by the love of his life Cecilia Thompson, and his departed son Ronnie. He will be dearly missed by his family, Ronnie (Sandra), Michael (Hellen), Lisa (Randy), and loving grandfather to Brant (Dixie), Jamie (Krista), Andrew, Connor, Ceria, and the newest addition to the family (Margo) great-granddaughter and Buddy (the family dog).

His long career at the City of York spanned over 44 years as a Sr. Inspector. During his tenure, he received recognition from the Mayor for his unblemished employment record and was instrumental in the implementation of standardizing inspection practices.

His devotion as a coach inspired him to become the Director of the Metro Toronto Hockey League (MTHL) for Bert Robinson. Many of the players he coached over the years remember him for his dedication and coaching abilities, particularly as one of the few coaches in Toronto with a Jr. A certification.

A loving, caring husband and father who put his family first and his needs last, he was proud of his grandchildren and always looked forward to hearing about their future plans and achievements. An avid carpenter, his passion and enjoyment were building things from scratch and letting his imagination shine. His craftsmanship was very impressive, he was a perfectionist who poured love and pride into all his projects, even creating special gadgets to overcome obstacles in order to achieve the perfect results.

Will always remember how proud your Dad is of all of you - his beloved family and of course the ever popular ‘ OK Cel so I’ll see you after dinner Cel given that it’s 8am and you and Onita are just going out for a few minutes..’. Your Dad is a wonderful role model and he was a gentleman in every sense of the word! Glad we had the chance to talk over the holidays! In our hearts always. Xoxo. Onita and Alexa
