In memory of

Laura Margarita Baez De Bermeo

August 4, 1955 -  December 29, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved Laura Margarita. We find peace in knowing that Laura had many family members who loved and adored her including her daughter Lory, her son-in-law Lester, her grandchildren, Elory, Izzy and Selena, as well as her sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. Our families in Canada and Ecuador remember her as a kind, giving and gentle spirit. She left a lasting impression on us all and her legacy will live on through her family. If you are able, please join us in celebrating her life at 11:00 am on January 13, 2024 at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre in Pickering. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." -Psalm 23

Lara worked in a different department at SOCAN than where I work, but I often saw her when I needed help from our Legal department and she always made one feel welcome with her helpful and gentle demeanor. It's a shock that she is no longer with us; my condolences to her family.

There are only a handful of patients over my 13 years of practice that I would consider as friends, Laura was one. I always looked forward to our appointments as not only were they a chance to catch up on medical health but also on her family, current events and the latest in alternative medicine. Her presence made all those around her feel warm and happy. Despite many hardships she always kept a positive attitude. She will be greatly missed and will always hold a place in my heart.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I knew Laura from my years working at SOCAN. We had many little chats and she will be remembered for being a lovely person, very soft-spoken and kind.
