May 27, 2021
Lawrence (Larry) George Ellerton, age 51, died wrapped in the arms of his loving wife and devoted children on Thursday May 27th, 2021 at their home in Toronto, ON after a courageous and lengthy battle with brain cancer.
Larry was born on August 19th, 1969 in Chatham, ON to Vassilici Mplaras and Larry Ellerton. He grew up enjoying summer visits with his grandparents in Toronto, ON and Aylmer, QC. Larry attended the University of Toronto where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce and met the love of his life, Cindy. They married after Cindy’s graduation in 1994 and welcomed beautiful twin babies, Nicholas and Lauren, in 1997.
Larry had a passion for his business, mentoring colleagues, reading, exercising, and solving puzzles. He was an exceptional father, who devoted himself to loving and supporting his children. Larry was an enthusiastic hockey and lacrosse dad, travelling to see every game he could in recent years. He took such pride in watching his children doing what they loved and achieving their goals.
Larry will be deeply missed by his wife of 27 years, Cindy and his children, Nicholas and Lauren; his grandfather, George; his parents, Vassie (Don), Larry Sr and Nancy (Lance); his siblings, Christina, Kevin and Brad; and his many aunts, uncles and cousins. Larry will also be greatly missed by his wife’s extended family and his large network of colleagues and dear friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Eleni Mplaras, Rita Ellerton and Percy Ellerton; and his aunt, Ginny Mplaras, all of whom he loved dearly.
We would like to thank Dr. Warren Mason, Maureen Daniels (RN) and the staff at the Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital for caring for Larry over the last 14+ years. Also many thanks to Dr. Jamie Meuser, Priscilla Sudeesh (RN) and the staff at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care who offered us compassionate care and support.
