SAHAZIZIAN, LANIS ANTON. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lanis Sahazizian, in Toronto, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 85 years. Lanis was born in Bucharest, Romania on October 11, 1938 to Levon and Satenig Sahazizian. He was predeceased by Anne-Marie (nee Savulian), his wife of 56 years and will be remembered by his children, Anton (Laura) and Alice (Leonardo Ruppenthal). Lanis was affectionately known as Dede to his five grandchildren, Antonia and Gabriela Ruppenthal, Jack, Lilly and Teddy Sahazizian.

Lanis was an accomplished professional Mechanical Engineer in the field of piping systems for nuclear reactors with Ontario Hydro and OPG. However, his real passions were writing and Armenian causes. He was a regular contributor to Ararat, the newspaper for Armenian-Romanians and published several books like his father, an Armenian author and a survivor of the Armenian Genocide.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. I know you and your sister spent significant time with your father in the past few months as his health deteriorated. Lisa and I send our best wishes during this time. Celebrating his life is the best thing to do. It sounds like he was both very accomplished in his profession but also a key contributor to the community and dedicated to his Armenian culture. All great things to know and celebrate about your Father.
