In memory of

Lamya Makar

April 21, 1938 -  June 26, 2023

Lamya passed away on Monday, June 26th at the age of 85 just three months after her beloved husband of 64 years, Makar.

She was born in the Mediterranean coastal city of Haifa then fled with her family to Lebanon in 1948. She later left home as a teenager to go to nursing school and met her husband Makar at the Baptist hospital in Gaza where he was a doctor and where she worked as a registered nurse.

After taking time off to raise three children, she returned to nursing and became supervisory nurse at one of the clinics in the hospital in Saudi Arabia where she and her husband worked. An accomplished professional, she was equally admired and respected by her superiors and her staff.

She relished much in life such as fishing with friends and tending to a large flower and vegetable garden. She was a talented cook and loved hosting family and visiting friends. She and Makar also enjoyed traveling and took many trips around the world, visiting Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. They especially enjoyed returning to Egypt and Lebanon to visit with family and friends.

Lamya leaves behind son John (Susan), daughter Samia, son Nabeel (Lisa), grandson Ethan, and siblings Nadia, Noha and Maroun. She will be missed and cherished by all. God bless you our angel in heaven.
