In memory of

Lai Sheung Wong 黃李麗嫦夫人

October 14, 1948 -  February 17, 2025

Wong Lai Sheung (黃麗嫦), wife to Wong Cheuk Yiu (黃卓耀), and beloved mother to four children, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, leaving behind precious and happy memories for everyone that she met and loved.

She was born in Taishan, China in 1948, daughter of Lee Ying Wah (李英華) and Yee Bo Wah (余寶華) and eventually decided to make Canada her home. A devout Roman Catholic, she loved collecting gemstones and shopping across Toronto.

Lai Sheung was a devoted mother to Richard, Nicholas, Rowena, and Natalie, whom she raised to be independent and caring adults. She was also a grandmother to five grandchildren. She was a pillar of the family and provided love and support that they continue to feel even with her passing. Her children and grandchildren will miss her dearly but we find solace that she has joined our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lai Sheung was a survivor who overcame two previous battles with cancer. She bravely fought her last battle with cancer. Although she did not prevail, her endurance and positive attitude in the face of the illness reminds us of her constant courage. We will never forget her unceasing perseverance as she fought to the very end.

Our mother has expressed her wish to have a small funeral for family only. While flowers are welcome, she preferred that donations be made to the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre, where her team of caregivers provided constant support for the past years. If you wish to make a donation, please copy the link to your browser and select "Odette Cancer Program" from the dropdown.
