In memory of

Kurt Hani

October 24, 1926 -  April 12, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kurt on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 with his daughter Cora and son-in-law Dean by his side. Loving and devoted husband to Rita for 66 years.

Kurt was born in Selzach, Switzerland at the foot of the Jura Mountains, where he loved to hike. Predeceased by his cherished son Eric (2002); his parents Martha and Arthur Hani-Ruefli; brothers Fred and Willi. Kurt will be fondly remembered by friends and family in Canada and Switzerland. Kurt and his wife left Switzerland in 1956 by ship, on their honeymoon to Toronto. Kurt had an amazing thirst for knowledge stemming from his love of books. This led to a career in book binding at Ryerson Press and then at Carswell Thompson Professional Publishing.

Adventurers and world travelers Kurt and Rita travelled the globe. He was also an accomplished and published photographer as well as a talented artist. He enjoyed cottage life, but was happiest in his garden, finding peace and solace in nature. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of choice would be appreciated. Following his wishes, there will be no funeral services.

Please accept my deepest condolences.
Kirk to me was an adventurer deep down in his soul. He lived his life in pursuit of knowledge. When life permitted he travelled and enjoyed different cultures and he was fortunate enough to have done that well into his eighty's. He was always in search of new experiences. He loved the botanical gardens which he and Rita frequented often.
I will miss his cucumbers and will always think of him when spreading stachelbeere -konfiture on my toast.
