MOOTILAL, Koomar

Our beloved Koomar Mootilal, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023. A devoted husband, caring brother, nurturing uncle, and loving friend. Koomar, you were an inspiration to those whose lives you crossed paths with. Always being the most uplifting and vibrant person with constant witty remarks; you knew how to bring joy to the lives of those surrounding you. You would often say “it’s okay, don’t worry,” to remind us that life should not be spent stressing on tiny inconveniences, but rather thinking about how to make the most out of each and every day. You demonstrated how to appreciate the time spent with our loved ones and to not let things like our phones distract us from what matters most. You were a born leader and lead by example whether it was being a big brother, role model to those younger than you, or carrying your all-fours team to several championships. Never being defined by the cards you were dealt, but by the purpose you fulfilled. You always had a contagious smile that could infect others, no matter the situation. The vibrancy of your being has left an everlasting footprint on all those honoured by your presence. Our souls will forever be blessed by the sound of your laughter, warmth of your embrace, and touched by the love of your heart. Even when life was not always kind to you, you exemplified your undaunting courage, tenacity, and grace as you braved through the last 3 years.

Koomar, as we pay homage to you, longing for one more moment, one last time to hear your voice, one last time to feel your warmth, we smile through our tears and take comfort in knowing that your gift to us, was a lifetime of special memories. Your legacy, charm and humour will present an everlasting effect on your family and friends. With heavy hearts, we thank you for blessing us with years of love and laughter and we look forward to meeting you again someday.

Forever in our hearts, we love you forever. Rest in love.

In the short time that we have known you after our initial meeting over meal, we recognized your easy going nature, quick wit, and fun loving personality. Although we never knew that the future would bring us to this moment, we are grateful for the time that we spent getting you know you.

So Runa, are dear friend, we know the road ahead will be different than the one originally imagined so hold on to the memories that we hope will bring you comfort. We hope that in the midst of the pain that you will learn to dance and that in the midst of the grief you will find joy, love, and much laughter.

Much love and care
Verelda, David and Naomi.
