In memory of

Keith Kit Wai

February 4, 1930 -  July 12, 2020

Keith Kit Wai passed away peacefully on July 12th, 2020. Keith was a beloved husband to Selina, dedicated father to Fontaine and Eric, caring father-in-law to Adam and Fredericka, cherished gung gung and yeh yeh to Ella and Roger, and devoted brother of Amy, Henry, Amos and Stephen. He will be fondly remembered by his numerous extended family and friends.
Born in Hong Kong, Keith’s childhood was interrupted by the war. He started working at the age of 14 at the ferry service head office, eventually graduating from Queen’s College and the Wan Chai Technical College in the Building Faculty. He worked at the British Army barracks as a building foreman before joining the Hong Kong Labour Department as a divisional factory inspector, a position he held for over 20 years. In 1977, Keith and his young family moved to Canada to join his siblings and in search of greater opportunity for his children. His world travels with Selina to 55 countries only deepened his love and appreciation for the openness and diversity of his home in Canada.
Due to the public health restrictions, attendance at the funeral is limited to family only. Directions for viewing the service by teleconference will be published to this site shortly.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation would be appreciated. The family extends special thanks to the caring doctors and nurses at the Scarborough General Hospital.

I was saddened by the sudden loss of Mr. Wai but when I reflect on what I know of his life, he lived it as everyone should, to the fullest and with complete openness. He was kind and always talked to me while smiling and with interest, sometimes treating me like a member of the family. I always admired his interest in travelling and going to the most interesting places in the world. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. My life long friendships with Eric and Fontaine are a result of the kind of friends that only a committed and influential dad raises. My prayers to the Wai family and I give my thanks to the influence he has brought to us all.
