In memory of
Kinji Kawamura
May 18, 1938 -
October 25, 2021
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Kinji Kawamura on October 25, 2021 at home with his family. He is dearly loved by his wife, Margaret, his three daughters, Anne, Kim, and Mary and his sons-in-law, Hans and Steve. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, Michelle, Julianne, and Mark, his siblings in Japan, Youtaro, Sumako, and Kiwako, as well as his extended family here in Canada.
Kinji was trained as an engineer in Japan and came to Montreal, Quebec in 1962 to start a new career. Although he initially came on a working visa, he loved Canada so much that he married and settled down in Toronto. Kinji will always be remembered for his quiet determination and calm and patient manner. He loved his children and his grandchildren, always finding time to teach them and play with them, as they were the joys of his life. If he wasn’t playing with the kids, you would find him out in nature, fishing, taking photos, or hiking in places near and far.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friends of Algonquin Park would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the GAIN clinic at Scarborough General Hospital and the many PSWs who provided such kind and caring support over the last few months of his life.
