In memory of

Kimyee Clair Choo

March 22, 1949 -  February 19, 2025

CHOO (Afong), Kimyee Clair passed away peacefully at home on February 19, 2025.

Born Mar. 22, 1949, in Zhongsan, China, to the late Yen Chun Choy Afong and Pou Yee Afong (Lau).

Kimyee immigrated to Trinidad and Tobago in 1959, where she attended Providence Girls’ Intermediate R.C. before attending secretarial school and working at Bata Shoe Company. Ever the social butterfly, she was always ready for a good beach lime, to drive her Austin Mini anywhere to hang around, or to take her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law to bathe at Maracas.

Kimyee married her husband, Chun Keung Choo, in 1979 before joining him in Toronto, where they went on to raise four daughters. Known for her warmth and giving spirit, she will be remembered as always being the one to take care of and help everyone else when it was needed most and for never asking anything in return. She fostered a deep love of flowers and gardening and was well known for such amongst friends and neighbours.

Predeceased by her sister, Kum Wan (Yet Loung), Kimyee is survived by husband Chun Keung; daughters Karen, Carolyn, Kelly, and Stephanie; brothers Kum Yuk (Yong Shao) and John (Lucy); and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation and service will be held Mar. 1, 9:00-11:00 a.m.; with interment to follow. Livestreaming will be available on this website Mar. 1, 8:55 a.m.

Donations in memoriam may be made to Sunnybrook Hospital’s Odette Cancer program or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Flowers can be ordered through CJS Flowers (https://cjsflowers.ca/) or your preferred florist. Please note that any arrangements must be delivered to Pine Hills by Friday, Feb. 28, 2:00 p.m.
