In memory of

Kimberly Anne Hopkins

August 24, 1959 -  July 19, 2024

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.

I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.

I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.

We would like to share a few words that we put together to honour our dear daughter.

Kimberly Anne Hopkins (nee Dawson), age 64, died quietly at home in Pickering on July 19, 2024. Beloved wife of Grant Hopkins and loving mother of Meagan Hopkins (Darius) and Marissa Hopkins (Rowan). Cherished daughter of Carol and Gordon Dawson. Sister of Christine Smith (James) and Gordon Dawson (Kim). Sister-in-law of Mark Hopkins and Paul Hopkins (Kim). Aunt of Elizabeth Smith (Aaron), Charlotte Smith, Daniel Dawson, Jacklyn Hopkins and Jake Hopkins. Niece of Dorothy Ball and Garey Dewey (Faye). Kim is predeceased by her parents-in-law Jack and Margaret Hopkins and by her uncle Edward Ball.

Kim was born in Lindsay in 1959 and spent most of her childhood and teen years in Peterborough. She enjoyed figure skating, tap dancing, Girl Guides, and photography. She graduated from PCVS and then entered the workforce. Kim soon met Grant and they married, making their home in Pickering with their two daughters. Kim’s family was of the utmost importance to her.

Kim was a hardworking person who never turned down a challenge. She had multiple talents, including painting, building stained glass panels, woodworking, beading, and cooking. She also had a flair for colour and design. Kim brought these talents to her work and home life. Her creations will continue to be cherished items in the homes of friends and family.

Kim loved animals and had several pets over the years that benefitted from her care and attention. Her love of nature was obvious during her childhood summers spent camping and boating at Bark Lake. She maintained this passion for camping, canoeing and kayaking throughout her life.

I’m heartbroken. I send my love to all Kim’s family. I know she was the heart of your family and she loved you all to the moon and back!
Kim was such a force of nature. She had so many talents and interests. Many talents she never even recognized in herself. I was always in awe of her knowledge and competence.
I have been going through pictures of the many fun times we shared. Many laughs and cries together. I regret our opportunity to share more has come to an end, so suddenly. I will miss you dear friend; until we meet again!

I was heartbroken to hear of Kim's sudden passing. I have many fond memories from our family get togethers especially camping at Bark Lake enjoying many fun times together and the police Christmas parties. We had a special connection as we were generational blood related cousins. My sincere condolences to all family members at this very difficult time and sending big hugs to all. Love Faye
