In memory of

He Sook Kim

May 31, 1944 -  February 9, 2023

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of He Sook Kim (Sunwoo) aged 78 years, cherished by her husband, Bong Kyon, her son, Felix, and her daughter-in-law, Patty, her daughter, Ann, and many family and friends. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Megan, Roger, Trevor, and Jonas. Born in Korea, she grew up in and around Seoul with loving parents and was the youngest child with three older brothers, Yae Chul, Won Chul, and Sang Chul. She studied Chemistry at Ewha University and worked at the Korea Institute of Atomic Energy and the Catholic University of Korea School of Medicine. In Canada, she learned to arrange flowers and gorgeous planters, draw, paint, and create handmade greeting cards to give to her loved ones. She loved to travel, play golf at dawn, watch musicals and hockey games, and serve fruit to her children and grandchildren. Singing brought her the greatest joy and she sang soprano for many years in the Toronto Korean Canadian Choir and at church. She performed many solos throughout the years. She is remembered for the tireless sacrifices she made, her quick and easy smile, laugh, and fun-loving nature.

It was truly my privilege to have met Mrs. Kim. While I didn't know of all her accomplishment at the time, she exuded grace, warmth, and calm in our encounter, and not a trace of the suffering that she must have been enduring. Reading her obituary brought me tears and reminded me of my mother's accomplishment and her passing last year. Mrs. Kim has accomplished much and have lived life to its fullest. She'll be missed dearly. In deep sympathy, Guida
