In memory of

Neil Madden

February 22, 1933 -  November 3, 2022

The family of Kenneth Neil Madden is saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022. Neil slipped peacefully away to join his recently deceased wife Nancy, leaving four children, Eric (Susie), Stephen, Rodger and Alexandra Lorraine and nine grandchildren: Jeanette, Ian, Rebecca, Miranda, Jacky, Maya, Serena, Paul and Lucas. Born and raised in Toronto with his twin sister Zoe, Neil moved to Montreal to attend McGill University. While there he made a large splash in the art world as actor, director and writer; rubbing shoulders with the likes of Chris Plummer and Bill Shatner. Neil chose a life with his love (and recipient of poetry) Nancy, and they married and proceeded to have their three boys before moving to Toronto where their daughter was born. Neil enjoyed a long and highly respected career as an Insurance Underwriter; winning accolades and the high regard of his colleagues. He also continued his artistic pursuits in many different areas such as cooking, wood carving, string art, puzzles, game creation, gardening and writing. Neil supported the local community in Don Mills in many ways from building and maintaining the neighbourhood ice rink to writing and directing plays at his childrens grade school. Neil also enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren to the park, zoo, beach, art gallery and especially the CNE. An avid football fan, CFL and Argos loyalist to the end, watching the Grey Cup (or Super Bowl) will never be the same without him. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday November 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm at York Funeral Centre and Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Neil’s memory to Covenant House or LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society would be greatly appreciated.
