In memory of

Kenneth MacKay

September 20, 1944 -  April 9, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Kenneth MacKay. Ken passed away peacefully at his home in Toronto on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, following a brave battle with illness and surrounded by loving family.

Ken MacKay left us in the 80th year of a long life well-lived. Left with wonderful memories are his loving and devoted wife of 58 years Catherine who cared for him with love, especially over the past six weeks, and children, Don (Nancy) and Jamie (Erin); and his beloved grandchildren, Megan, Kelsea, Alex, and Beck. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Elizabeth, and his in-laws Gavriel and Melissa, Vangie, Mary and Bill, and Irene and Steve. He also leaves his dear sisters Moira (Gordon) and Marg (Tom); sister-in-law Menka (Peter), brother-in-law Angelo and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbours.

Ken was an inspiration to his family and others for how he lived his life, hard-working, honest, sharp, considerate, and smiling. He liked to laugh and to make others laugh and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. Born and raised in Fishcross, Scotland, his ambition and pursuit of new challenges led Ken, his parents, and sisters to Canada in 1962 where he made the most of his opportunities. He joined the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce as a teller and rose to management and leadership positions in Retail Banking and Risk Management before retiring in 2002. His professional relationships were as strong as his personal and he was known for his integrity and abilities in every position he held.

Ken enjoyed his retirement years travelling, golfing at his club and with Cathy, fishing, and doing crossword puzzles at home, the cottage, and the farm. He was a treasured father and beloved Grandpa, cheering on and coaching his kids and grandkids at hockey rinks, soccer and rugby pitches, baseball diamonds, and even dance competitions. He was often the life of the party and enjoyed a good meal, a nice drink and a fun time full of laughs.

Ken’s family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and assistance over the past several months. Your care and concern helped greatly.

There will be a celebration of life from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, May 11 at the Guild Inn Estate.

Cathy and Family.
We are so saddened to learn of Ken's passing. The comments written about Ken in the obituary described him so well.
He truly was a treasure who was valued and loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him - a wonderful gift to Cathy and all his family and friends. And our memory of that wonderful smile of his will always be remembered.
We pray God will comfort you all at this sad time and give you His strength and peace to endure, in Jesus' name.

Ken will truly be missed. One of the kindest caring individuals that I had the pleasure of calling a friend! Loving and supportive husband to his wife, Cathy. Incredible role model for his two sons and 4 grand-children.

Great family man.
