In memory of

Kenneth "Ken" Rootham

November 10, 1924 -  March 4, 2019

Ken was surrounded by family when he passed away peacefully at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre following a short bout of pneumonia. Loving husband of Dorothy and Jenny (Geneva), both deceased. Cherished father of Patti, Nancy (Rick), Elaine (Tim), Peggy (Doug), David (Chantal), Bill and Tom (Krissy). Caring grandfather to Gordon, Michael, Matthew, Lauren, Morgan, Michelle, Elisha, Emma and Ethan and great grandfather to Damian, Penny, Isaac, Victoria, Grace and Georgia. Beloved stepfather to Pauline (Tom), Bernice and Carol (Jack) and cherished by their children and grandchildren. One of seven children, he is survived by Bill (Pamela), Elizabeth (Bill) and Robert (Mary, deceased).
Ken was a WWII Veteran who proudly served his country overseas. He was a retired electrician who worked for various companies before retiring. In addition to spending time with his large family and many friends, Ken enjoyed playing golf, travelling, dancing (with everyone and anyone) and taking daily walks. Ken will be remembered as a quiet, caring and gentle man with an amazing sense of humour and will be dearly missed by many.
The Rootham family would like to extend thanks to the loving caregivers at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre who always shared a kind word and friendly smile with him.
A Service of Remembrance in celebration of his life will take place at the Simple Alternative Funeral
Home, 1057 Brock Rd., Pickering, ON L1W 3T7, on Saturday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. Guests are welcome at 12:00 to visit with family and friends.
In Ken’s memory, donations to the Salvation Army or Sunnybrook Veterans Centre would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Thank you.

I've always looked up to Uncle Ken and enjoyed his many visits to my parent's house after one of his long walks. Will miss him.

Steven MacGregor (Former Neighbour)

I have many fond memories from my childhood! From playing horseshoes in the back yard, to the time he was hit by a golf ball when we were playing golf in Pickering! Always smiling and trying to say my last name with a Scottish accent! Rest in peace Mr. Rootham! God Bless!

Harold and Rose White (friends of Ken, Bill and Patti)

Entered March 23, 2019 from Masset, BC

We enjoyed time with Ken over his holidays out West a few years back. He was a man that Rose and I easily warmed to...and a true gentleman with a great sense of humour.
