Kaz Szmyr

SZMYR, Kaz

Passed away unexpectedly at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on June 18, 2021 at the age of 68. Loving husband of Roma for 44 years. Adored father of David and Bryan (Sarah). Cherished grandfather of Russell Kaz. Predeceased by his parents Anna and Michael Szmyr. Kaz will also be dearly missed by his brothers Jan (Grace), Alex (Lynda), Stan (Anne). He will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He will be fondly remembered as a visionary and innovator in making life’s challenges easier, coming up with solutions and making them happen. His strong bond of family and guidance will never be forgotten. His first grandchild brought him such joy. He would watch videos and pictures of him over and over that made him smile and laugh. He loved the simple things in life, being outdoors and the home he built in the country where he could go for a walk in the back woods, and take in all the sounds nature provided. We’ll take a piece of your strength, peacefulness and courage, and keep your spirit living in the depths of our hearts. In gratitude, love and light you’ll always be ours. Eternally loved and inconsolably missed. From your wife Roma and children David and Bryan, daughter-in-law Sarah and grandson Russell Kaz. Donations will be gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society. A funeral service and burial were held at THORNTON CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE.

Roma, we’re very sorry to hear about Kaz. I can still remember us all partying together the night before your wedding, as though it were just recently and not decades ago. He was too young and taken away too soon. My heart goes out to you.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Kaz was a great work friend. I enjoyed his company and his quick wit. We shared a lot of laughs at work together. We had tough sudoku challenges and races. Sad to hear of his passing and will miss him. I know his family meant the world to him and he will be cherished and missed by all.
