Always enjoyed seeing Kathleen at the Hillsdale Pub listening to the bands. She would always tell me what was going on with the family and of course what her thoughts were. She always made me smile.

Nana,
The times we spent together through the years will be looked back on fondly. The boys remember how great it was to go to great-grandma's to eat pizza and see the fish. As for myself, the Sunday dinners that would begin or end with a walk to your house stand out in my mind.

We love you and will miss you.

Love,
Trevor, Danielle, Simon, Bryce and James

Sending our sincere condolences. My mom lived across the hall (Viv Eckel) and shared Kay's table in the dining room when she moved in. Kay would always say Hello when I was there and she had a very dry sense of humour! Rest in peace Kay.

Kathleen was born in Brighton Ontario on December 29, 1921 to Mabel and Frederick Pound. Her childhood was spent in Brighton with 6 brothers and 1 sister, all of which are deceased.
Kay married Ernest Tompkins on September 5, 1942. They lived in Brighton raising 3 children, Beverly, Gail and Dennis until work required a move to Oshawa. They continued married life adding 2 more children Valerie (deceased) and Becky to their family in Oshawa. They continued living in Oshawa their entire lives. They both enjoyed being active members of Kingsview United Church, as well and participating in the choir. Ernest passed away on September 1, 1992 and Kay continued to pass her time knitting for her grandchildren as well as charities. Kay lived on her own until health conditions required a move to Hillsdale Estates in 2013. She enjoyed the company of the residents and all of the activities the home offered. The concerts and the choir were something she looked forward to as well as the Bingo games. The past 5 years have been very hard for Kay to get around on her own and limited her ability to do a lot of the things she once did but the staff on Primrose Path made it their mission to get her involved in as many activities as they could.
COVID managed to slow everyone and everything down but we kept in touch with Zoom calls twice a week which we all looked forward to.
Mom will be missed by many.
