In memory of

Kathleen "Kay" Lopez

February 16, 1937 -  July 26, 2025

Kathleen “Kay” Lopez, born February 16, 1937, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in her 88th year. Mom is now reunited in heaven with her beloved parents, Evelyn and John Benson, as well as her late brother, Harold Benson.

Kay will be lovingly remembered by her son, Paul. She was the cherished grandmother to Licia Lopez and beloved Aunt, to Penny and Jeffrey Huycke, who will carry forward her legacy of curiosity and compassion. As the adored sister of Dale Huycke and the beloved aunt of John, Jimmy, Vicky, Lori, and Debbie, she took great joy in family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and sharing her infectious laugh.

Kay devoted 35 years of her life to teaching young children, leaving an enduring mark on countless students with her warmth, patience, and boundless creativity. Her classroom was a place of laughter, discovery, and kindness—a reflection of her own generous spirit.

An avid traveler, Kay embraced every journey as an opportunity to learn, connect, and grow. Whether exploring a neighboring province or crossing oceans, she collected stories, friendships, and snapshots of beauty wherever she went. She would have circled the globe if time had allowed.

Her absence leaves a quiet space in our hearts, but her lessons of kindness, wonder, and perseverance endure. In honoring her memory, we carry forward her spirit of adventure and her unwavering belief that every day holds the promise of discovery.
