In memory of

Kathleen Ellen Ritchie

May 12, 1928 -  October 30, 2020

RITCHIE, Kathleen Ellen (nee Thoms)

Peacefully on October 30, 2020 at Scarborough Centenary Hospital at the age of 92.

Loving mother of Robin (Jim), Robert (Carolyn), and Randy (Adriana).
Proud grandmother of Jason (Priscilla), Ryan, Justin (Chantel), Kyla, Sarah (Harry), Andrew (Hannah) and great grandma to Jaymes, Emily and Christian.
Dear sister to Carol, Jacqueline and Sharon.
Predeceased by sisters Helen, Mary and Shirley.
Greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Kathleen, Kay, as everyone called her was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She raised her three children by herself. She never remarried and went without to ensure her children had everything they needed. Her greatest joys were reading and knitting. God knows how many afghans she gave everyone. She was a creative cook on a very limited budget and a great baker. She had made a few friends when living in Whitby and attending the Seniors Centre for her weekly bingo.

The last year and a half were spent living with her daughter Robin and son-in-law Jim. She was overheard saying “the food and service was great here”. Mum still had a quick wit in her senior years. When she was told that her ex-husband had passed she took a minute and snapped “I told that SOB that I would out live him!”

We will honor her request that a funeral not be held. Cremation will take place and interment at Prospect Cemetery will take place in the spring of 2021.
Her favourite charities were giving to the Veteran’s Poppy Campaign and the Salvation Army at Christmas.
