It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful, beloved daughter Katie, forever in the hearts of her parents, Nancy and Andy Byles and brother, Jesse, Grandmothers, Mary White and Lin Joyce, predeceased by: her Grandmothers Eleanor Marsh and Anne Budny, and Grandfathers, Jeff Byles, Jim Marsh and Keith Bly.
She will be dearly missed by aunts and uncles Judith Byles (Andrew), Catherine Frook (Grant), Alison Byles (Mike), HyeKyung Marsh (the late Bruce Marsh) and cousins Tyler (Cate and baby Felix), Ryan (Jackie and baby Grace), Tony, Claire, Nathan and by her large extended family including Tony and Maisie Palmer, and Catherine Rahme.
Katie will be lovingly remembered by her dear friends the Trottier/Griffin family, the Leyes/ Jashewski family and the Gan/ Hodgins family and by her close friends Sophia, Sophie, Apollo, Anthony, Imara, Miranda, Tyra, Ola, Michael, Cameryn and many others as well as neighbours on Springhead Gardens in Richmond Hill and the Aintree Trailer park community in Kincardine.
Katie or “Kat” as she preferred to be called, recently graduated as an Ontario Scholar from Alexander Mackenzie High School where her many academic achievements included the highest mark in both Grade Nine English and Family Studies and Grade Eleven Introduction to Anthropology, Sociology and Psychology.
Kat’s first love, however, was always in the Visual Arts. Her extensive portfolio won her acceptance at the Ontario College of Art and Design University for their Drawing and painting program beginning in the fall of 2020. As an emerging artist, her work included painting with acrylics and oil, drawing as well as being an avid art collector with an unerring eye for excellence in the work of other artists.
Much of Kat’s art depicted the nature she so appreciated. Whether it was her adored cat Lilith and hamster, Angel Baby, or seagulls on Aintree beach, every creature was dear to her.
Kat loved music throughout her life and played piano for many years.
Kat was witty and wise beyond her years and often helped others resolve issues that were complex and difficult.
Kat’s sense of humour came out when she was very young as did her sensitivity. Family and friends will cherish many memories of her irresistible laughter and unfailing kindness.
We can’t imagine our lives without Katie, our hearts are broken and we will miss her every second of each day. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. The only consolation is that we have nineteen years of happy memories of Katie to cherish for the rest of our lives.
With so many amazing memories to pick through, it is impossible to choose just one. Please share your fond memories of Kat to continue her legacy.
