We are very sadden by Uncle Kam’s passing. He was the head of our family and has anchored the extended family through thick and thin.

Uncle Kam’s home was my family's first stop in Canada when we emigrated from China many years ago. From that day on, he was a humble yet ever steady, ever beneficent presence as my family build a new life in the new world. He helped my father with employment and my mother with care and advice. His home was the centre of many extended family get-togethers. More personally for me, some of my best memories of casual days of childhood were spent playing at his house.

We are very grateful to Uncle Kam and will remember him always.

Farewell to My Dearest Brother Kam

Today, we mourn the death of Brother Kam with deep sorrow and respect, and we say farewell.

“Once upon a time an immortal flew away on the back of a yellow crane,
What remains of the tale here is a tower bearing its name.
The heavenly creature once gone has never returned,
For thousands of years white clouds have in the skies drifted in vain.“

Dear brother, rest in peace! You have been diligent and self-sacrificing throughout your life, and you have carried forward the noble character and ambition of your grandfather.

You were filial to your parents, loved your younger brothers and sisters, care about your hometown, ever willing to help others, help the weak and help the poor, and earn the love of the next generation. Your benevolent deeds are widely praised by all who know you. You will always be looked up to by our family, we will always miss you and follow your example.

Farewell well dear brother! Rest in peace! You will live forever in our hearts.

With my deepest respect,
Suey Jing
