In memory of

June Macpherson

June 1, 1935 -  February 28, 2023

Our wonderful mother and grandmother June Macpherson passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 28, 2023 at the age of 87. She will be sorely missed by her two children Ross and Barbara, son-in-law Martin, and her beloved grandchildren Alyssa, Sam and Spencer.

June was born in Coatbridge, Scotland in 1935 and her Scottish heritage, humour and wit remained a very defining part of her character for the rest of her life. At a young age, she was exceptional at mathematics, so much so that the Bank of Canada offered her a job sight unseen, and at just 21 (in the late 1950s) she moved halfway across the world to Toronto where she started her career in banking and ultimately met a tall, bookish fellow from Regina named Alan. The two very quickly fell madly in love and married in the summer of 1958.

By 1964, June and Alan had a family and while they came from very different backgrounds and very distant parts of the globe, they came together perfectly as parents to create a home filled with love, compassion, and constant laughter. In their home, everyone was welcomed as family.

After both June and Alan retired, they caught the travel bug and saw the world, travelling to the UK, throughout France, over to Morocco, and even spent months working in Portugal at a resort in the Algarve. Sadly though, June lost her travel partner and the love of her life in 2013, but we take tremendous joy knowing they are finally back together and making each other laugh.

June was truly one of a kind and she touched the hearts and lives of so many with her energy, her humour, and her kindness. We will always remember her laugh and her stories, and know that a piece of her lives on in everyone who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to your favourite charity.

The memorial service will be livestreamed starting at 11:45am on Sunday, March 19th. Please click on the link above. If you miss the service, the recorded version will be available to view as of Tuesday, March 21st and located under the media tab above.

June had a wonderful sense of humour ! Her favorite expression was "Not too terrible"
no matter how she was feeling!
We will surely miss her in all the special family gatherings!
Rest in peace Nana and now you can be with your Alan in heaven!

So very sorry for the loss of Mrs. Macpherson. Enjoyed both Mr. Allan Macpherson's and June's company. The laughter and many interesting stories of places far away and times long ago.

I will always have happy memories of them both.

Rest in Peace,
Darryl Narine

I have memories of June when she travelled to the UK as a warm, kind person with so much love for her family.

Aunt June was always a delight to be around. Her wit, humour and obvious enjoyment of life were contagious. She and Uncle Alan batted around topics of conversation like a ping pong ball and there was always laughter. I toast a life well-lived.

Barbara, my condolences to you and Ross as your mother was such a joy! On her several visits to San Francisco and seeing her in Toronto, it was always a treat to be in June’s presence and share in her laughter. Her spirit will remain with all of us who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Blessings to you and your family🥰🥰
