In memory of

Judy Bayly Nuzum

November 25, 1935 -  November 15, 2017

Judy Bayly Nuzum passed away on November 6th, 2017. Although the last few years were difficult, Judy lived them as she lived her whole life, with courage and stoicism, always putting others needs before her own, and when possible with a smile on her face. Her greatest joys were her family (endless), friends (around the world), gardening and dogs, dogs, dogs...not to mention savouring sunsets in McGregor Bay, cheering for the Bluejays, sipping vin de provence on Rue des Ecoles, Paris, and hiking the hills of Ireland.
Judy was born in London, Ontario, moved to Oakville, then studied at the University of Western where she obtained a gold medal in French and Spanish and a full scholarship for graduate study at the Sorbonne in Paris. It was at Western that she met a special group of sorority sisters who would remain her life long friends. Later she would receive a further scholarship to study at Lavalle University in Quebec City.
Judy followed a career in teaching which she was passionate about. This took her to Fort Frances, Toronto and Ireland where she worked for the Irish Management Institute, finally returning to Toronto to spend several years teaching French at Branksome Hall which she truly loved and making wonderful new friends wherever she went.
Summers were spent hiking and visiting with friends in Europe and fishing, canoeing and swimming in her cherished McGregor Bay with her mum and dad (her dearest companions) and her family.
In later years she married Don Nuzum and moved to Ireland permanently. She had a deep love and affection for Don and all her newly extended family especially Don’s great grandchildren.
Her heart and soul will remain forever free in the hills of Arklow and the islands of McGregor Bay.
We will always miss you and your beautiful smile.
A celebration will be held at a later date in Judy’s honour. Anyone wishing to contact the family for further information about the celebration or to offer condolences please do so at: www.mountpleasantgroup.com (follow link to condolences/Judy Bayly Nuzum).
Memorial donations to www.ontarionature.org or www.birdscanada.org.
Judy’s family would like to send a very special thanks to all the private caregivers and the staff at Kensington Gardens in Toronto who treated Judy with great care, affection and dignity under such difficult circumstances.

Judy was an excellent teacher and a dear friend. We kept in touch over many Christmases but then lost touch some twenty years ago, but our time teaching together remains vivid as does Judy herself.

Ave atque vale dear Judy

On behalf of Mum and Dad and all my family please accept our sincere condolences. Judy was a treasure. I remember Judy sitting up late one Christmas Eve knitting a hat for newborn Keri. She was devoted to her nieces and cherished her sister, Kate. Dawn
