1954 – 2016

On December 1, 2016, with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Jozef in his home in Toronto. Survived by his beloved wife Paula, son Ryan (22) and daughter Julia (20). Brother to siblings John (Marian), Laurens (Monique), Kees (Louise), Nellie (Bernie), Willie (late Christina), Vincent, Ewald and Trudie (Bruce). Predeceased by father Gerard, mother Duifje, twin brother Gerard, and brothers Stephen and Peter.
Joe was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on June 23, 1954. At the age of 3, he and family immigrated to Canada in 1957, where they settled in Ottawa. Joe and his to be wife, Paula moved to Toronto in 1979. Joe studied at George Brown College where he became an Electronics Technician. Joe thoroughly enjoyed this field and worked in the electronics industry for over 20 years. In 2000 Joe switched paths and became a stay at home dad, where he excelled at cooking, keeping the house in order and getting Ryan and Julia to all the places they needed to be. Joe was a very proud and loving father of his two wonderful children.
Joe is greatly missed by all but will always be held deeply in our hearts.
At tribute to Joe will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 3:00 to 6:00 at the family home.
Internment planned in Ottawa at a later date.
If desired, donations in Jozef’s name may be made to the CAMH Foundation (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation).

We are so sorry for the sudden loss of Joe and the sadness felt by all who knew him. Our families have been friends for over thirty years and we are remembering all the shared dinners, family birthdays, christmas gatherings, discussions where Joe was an integral part. We will cherish his memory forever! xo
