In memory of

Joyce Doreen Stow

November 20, 1934 -  January 25, 2017

Doreen was born on November 20, 1934 in Nottinghamshire, England where she grew up and attended Mansfield Technical College. She married Douglas Stow on September 3, 1955 and eventually had two children.
After their marriage, they lived in London until 1957 when they immigrated to Canada (Toronto). Their original plan was to stay 2 years but ended up living the rest of their lives there.
Doreen was a giver and enjoyed volunteering her time at Oshawa General Hospital during the time she lived there in the 70’s. She went back to work in 1979. The family moved to Calgary where she began working in the optical industry. After moving back to Toronto in 1982, Doreen enjoyed a long career at Zeiss Optical as Operations Manager until her retirement in 2010.
Doreen had a great love for her family, including her husband Doug, two children Mark (Cheryl) and Alison (Brian) and her grandchildren Nicholas, Katherine, Stephanie and Liam.
She also enjoyed travelling, sailing, entertaining, hosting parties, cooking, music, theatre, ballet, and especially spending time with her many dear friends.
Doreen was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She always gave 100% of herself to everyone she knew.
She will be missed by many.

My condolences to the entire family. This is a great loss not just for the family but for all those whose lives have been touched by Doreen. She loved life, her family and all those whose path she crossed. She was a fantastic friend. She was honest.loving and had the greatest sense of humor. George and I will miss her lovely friendship and the enjoyably conversation we shared. You are gone but will not be forgotten. RIP

I am so saddened by this news. Alison's Mom was always so chatty and fun. She loved watching Liam's tennis matches and spoke so highly of Stephanie. This loss will be a void for a long time. Remember her great times and happy moments. She is having fun now getting re-acquainted with her husband and your Dad.

My heartfelt condolences to all of your family. I had the chance to meet Doreen during a few of my trips to visit Brian and Alison. I remember Doreen as having a great smile and wonderful personality. She bought me a small mousepad as a Christmas gift during one visit. She didn't need to, and I always remember that as a testament to her wanting to make other's lives better. Alison, I am sorry for your loss.
