In memory of

Joyce Agatha Levene

November 29, 1936 -  January 1, 2017

We celebrate the life of the one and only the GREAT Ms. Joyce Agatha Levene.

Born on a Sunday in November on the 29th day in 1936, and passed away 80 years later on a Sunday in January on the 1st day in 2017. Let that sink in.

Daughter of Louise Noble and Stanley.
Sister to Pearl Steele and Kenneth.
Mother to Peter Grant, June Yvonne Grant (Marie) and Erica Levene.
Aunt to Sophia Reid McBean and Great Aunt to all other Levene’s living abroad.

Joyce Agatha Levene was not your ordinary women. She put the P in Phenomenal. Coming by way of Kingston, Jamaica. She left the comforts of her own home in search of better for herself.

As a participant in the Domestic Caregiver Program she was fortunate to have not endured the hardships like many others in the program did.

She was presented with other Challenges in other areas of her life but like the Champion she is, she pushed passed it and anyone else standing in her way.

Words used to describe Ms. Joyce: Remarkable, Beautiful, Strong, Fighter and Tough, No non-sense women.

This no non-sense women ruled with an iron fist in raising her kids, she gladly did so the Jamaican way. Even though coming and living here in Canada, she never left her values nor traits behind. She instilled them in Erica 100%.

Diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in 2010 this lioness women was given only one year to live. However, Ms. Joyce continually bet the odds time and time and time again. Leaving Doctors stunned and unable to explain…….How. That is because they had no clue whom they truly were dealing with.

Erica her loving daughter held her hand through this battle. There is nothing Erica would not do for Ms. Joyce. Through her numerous Hospitalizations, Erica slept by her mother’s bedside time and time again and did do with joy. If it meant Erica had to cancel appointments, she never hesitated in doing so.

They have a Mother /Daughter relationship that many wished they had. They were like Twins. A complete replica of one another. People from afar admired both Erica and Joyce. Joyce for the fighter she is and Erica for her undying love and care she gave her mom right up till the end.

Erica made sure no stone was ever left un-turned. She had no problem being a very strong Advocate for her mom. Erica would question doctors and be in there face at all times.

Erica made a promise to her Mother and that was she was with her until the “Finish Line”. That finish came on January 1st, 2017. Ms. Levene died peacefully at home in the early morning hours after ringing in the New Year.

Ms. Joyce did not allow this disease to rule or control her life. With her loving Daughter Erica by her side, Erica ensured to take her mom out and about to different events in the city. An artistic women herself Ms. Joyce Levene loved her crocheting, designing jewelry, portraits and reading, her weekly services on TV, Red Lobster, shopping, bus trips and her excursion to the Mall. No matter what she went through she remained a faithful women.

She will well be missed by those who were fortunate to meet her and be in her presence.

Ms. Levene now rest peacefully with her Mother, Sister, Son and Brother. Now all watching over Erica.

She will always be remembered for her smile, infectious laugh, sarcasm and wit.

Joyce Levene Quotes: “Nothing beats a failure but a try”.
