In memory of

Joseph Strassguertl

July 23, 1931 -  July 28, 2024

On Sunday Morning July 28th, Joseph Strassguertl, our beloved father, passed away. He was ninety-three. Born in Ergoldsbach Germany, to Josef and Barbara Strassguertl, our father graduated at a local Vocational School with an Auto Mechanic Diploma. In his early working years, our father worked for Mercedes in Munich, Germany.
After World War II, Joseph left Germany and immigrated to Canada on a boat where he met Ruth Jakubassa whom he did not realize at the time would be his future wife.
In Toronto, in 1962, our father started his own business, Well Products Ltd., a manufacturer of conveyors for the garment and auto industry, which exists to this day under the name SRS Conveyors. He then by chance, or as fate would have it, ran into Ruth Jakubassa again at a Toronto German Dance Hall and the rest is history – they got married and had two children – Heidi and Gilbert. They were together for nearly 30 years.
Joseph, our dad, was always very lively and active. He had a zest for life and loved to laugh and make others laugh.
Joseph’s greatest passion was vacation time with his family in the Caribbean Islands, Germany, and parts of Europe and North America. We have so many, many fond and fun memories of our time with our Dad. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Hello Papa,

I miss you already but I know you are in heaven. Funny story as I know you like to hear them. On the way home from Lakeridge Gardens on July 28th, I walked through a field and sure enough a monarch butterfly, who I have named Papa Joseph, almost smacked me in the face. In fact, he almost hit me. I soon came to realize that he was only playing with me and trying to cheer me up which Papa Joseph indeed accomplished. It was then that I knew, my Father was telling me not to worry and that he made it to heaven just fine and is enjoying dancing and singing with the angels and butterflies. Like the old saying goes, "When a Butterfly appears an Angel is near" Enjoy the Angels and the Butterflies Papa Joseph. Ich Liebe Dich. Heidi
